In the navy

3 August, 2011

in the navy 5Yet another nameday has come, and yet another reason to go out and celebrate the best way we know, eating. If you are Greek, you’re familiar with this. Many people in one of my previous posts told me, that this is really common in their country too. I’m glad we’re not the only ones!

Once more it was a really hot day, (more than 35 degrees) and we had to go out for lunch during the hottest hours of the day. So, I thought an updo hairstyle was needed. I decided to give the milkmaid braid a try, but when I finished with it, I wasn’t so satisfied with the result. Plus, looking down at my outfit, I noticed there were some weird styles mixed in it.

I mean, are there milkmaids in the navy? I bet there aren’t! Oh well…

I was already dressed and done my hair, so there was nothing I could do.

In any case, it was just a simple white dress with a few navy details, nothing much. No one even noticed.

I was wearing: Dress: Day by Billy Sabbado (Greek brand – belt and brooch came with the dress), bag: vintage, shoes: D&G, sunglasses: Donna Karan, earrings: Jewellery shop in Thessaloniki (Voila), watch: vintage. On my nails: GT Cosmetics no. 7 and on my toenails, still: Erre Due’s exclusive no. 145.

A close up of the braid. Not so successful though! My mother helped me with it, but my hair is asymmetrically cut, and it was too difficult to make the milkmaid braid.

And of course my favourite part, the close up of the shoes:

Aren’t they amazing? I bought them last year for my brother’s wedding, to wear them with my dream clutch. At first I didn’t really like them, cause 4 bows were too girly for me, but I bought them anyway, cause they were a perfect match for the clutch and I needed them for the wedding. But I think that they won me over. And after seeing these pics I am more smelted.

Like them or hate them? Leave me your comments below.

I read every comment and I always comment back, both on my blog and on yours. So, don’t be afraid to leave a comment, or follow my blog if you like. Who knows? Maybe I’ll be your new follower too.

I always appreciate genuine comments, that are far from the “follow me, and I’ll follow you” phrase. I’m only interested in people who really like my blog and its content, not to be the one with the most followers. I know there are many people reading my blog, and that is what really matters to me. 1.

    • Thank you very much! They weren’t as good as I expected them to be. They looked more like a fake braid pinned on my hair to me! I really liked my shoes with that nail polish too! 🙂

  2. Sorry for the delay in commenting here, M. mou… I’ve read your post yesterday, but I’m not feeling particularly happy these days, so I didn’t have much inspiration to write – although I loooooooved your hair style and sandals!!!! The dress is soooo sweet too!
So, having thought this yesterday, I am saying this now: you look lovely, prettier day after day, your “experiment” with the braid was very beautiful and I disagree with you, I think it looked very beautiful and well done! My compliments to your mother too, who helped you!
As for the sandals, simply gooooorgeous! Really really gorgeous! I wish I had some like yours!
Your style is very nice and I’m very proud of having such an elegant/intelligent/sweet friend! Filakia polla, and again, sorry for the delay… feeling quite down… 🙁

    • Oh Denise, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re feeling down. I wish I could do something to cheer you up! You can always talk to me if you feel like it. Not here of course, but via email. You know I’m here for you if you need me! 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet words. It’s ok that you didn’t comment yesterday, we all have other things in our lives too. Your comments always make me smile no matter when you write them, and I always appreciate your taking time to read my posts and comment on them.
My mother did most of the work with the braid, I’m not so good in hair styling, but I had it a little different in my mind. It wasn’t bad, but it was too “puffy”. I’m not sure how to describe it. I wanted the braids to blend in more with the rest of the hair, that’s all. However, I’ll try it again in the future.
I’m sure you can find the sandals somewhere, because I bought them last year, and I think they had them in other sizes too in the store, and I’m not sure they sold them.
Thank you sooo much for saying this, that you’re proud of me! 🙂 I’m proud of you too!
Filakia polla, and I hope you feel much better soon! Remember, you can always email me!
