“The Carrie Diaries” movie

22 February, 2011

After the – not-so-successful – Sex and the City 2 movie, we heard that Sex and the City’s prequel, “The Carrie Diaries”, is about to be made into a movie. “The Carrie Diaries” was written by Sex and the City’s author Candace Bushnell, in 2010 but it’s actually a book about Carrie’s early years before she came to NY.

Here’s the synopsis: “Before Carrie Bradshaw hit the big time in the City, she was a regular girl growing up in the suburbs of Connecticut. How did she turn into one of the most-read social observers of our generation? “’The Carrie Diaries’ opens up in Carrie’s senior year of high school. She and her best friends – Walt, Lali, Maggie, and the Mouse – are inseparable, amid the sea of Jens, Jocks and Jets. And then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture. Sebastian is a bad boy-older, intriguing, and unpredictable. Carrie falls into the relationship that she was always supposed to have in high school-until a friend’s betrayal makes her question everything. With her high school days coming to a close, Carrie will realize it’s finally time to go after everything she ever wanted.” The movie is supposed to be directed by Michael Patrick King, who was also the director of both Sex and the City movies and the TV series.

Internet rumors buzzed that actress Blake Lively was the frontrunner to play the younger Carrie Bradshaw in the “Sex in the City” prequel. Blake’s rep is dismissing the reports that she is in talks with the movie’s producers. “There is no truth to it,” said Blake’s rep. Last year, rumors circulated that Miley Cyrus is in talks for the role. Cyrus even has the support of “The Carrie Diaries” author Candace Bushnell as her first choice to play Carrie Bradshaw (Source).

Do you think that Blake Lively would be the best choice for playing young Carrie, or do you have someone else in mind? I wouldn’t mind Blake as Carrie, I like her a lot, but I don’t think that Miley Cyrus would be appropriate for the role.
