Mini post: Baby blue manicure with silver details

8 June, 2012

Last night, I was doing a manicure I had in mind for days, and I took some pictures of the process. It’s not something special but I liked the result, so totally out of the blue, I decided to make a post about it. Most pics were taken with my small camera, indoors, at night, so the resolution isn’t perfect. But I hope you like it anyway!

How to do a baby blue manicure with silver details

What I used

Mavala 002 Protective Base Coat, Erre Due no. 145, GT Cosmetics no. 347 (silver), GT Cosmetics nail art polish French tips (Glitter silver) and Mavala Mavadry Fast drying nail polish.

Step 1: Cut, and fine your nails in your preferable shape and length.

Step 2: Paint your nails with the base coat. I definitely recommend Mavala’s 002 Protective Base coat, as it’s not glossy, and it prevents the nails from becoming yellow.

Not my best job with the fining as I was too bored to bother more.

Step 3: Paint 1 coat of your preferable nail polish.

This one needs another coat to be perfect…

Step 4: Add a 2nd coat of nail polish

I actually loved how they looked, and thought about stopping there, but I really wanted to try adding some silver details as I had it on my mind for days. So I continued to the next step.

Step 5: After the 2nd coat has completely dried, use tape in different shapes to help you do the details.

I cut some tape in strips for my index fingers, and in triangles for my thumbs. If you have a steady hand or you are experienced enough, you can do it without the tapes.

Step 6: paint between the tapes with the silver nail polish, and let them dry completely. Then remove the tapes carefully.

I only used tapes for my thumb and index finger, and used the glitter nail polish on the tips of my ring fingers (something I had done before here). For my little/pinky finger I used a toothpick to create dots. It’s really easy!

And finally Step 7: Add a protective top coat. I always use Mavala’s Mavadry, which dries my nail polish in seconds, and keeps my manicure protected for days. But Mavala’s ColorFix is also great, or you can use any other top coat of your preference.

And Voilá, your manicure is ready! It’s not perfect but as I say every time, I’m not a professional.

Tomorrow I’ll probably go to the sea with my cousin, and maybe go swimming (the first swim for this summer). But I have prepared a post for you, with one my latest purchases, so don’t forget to check the blog again.

I hope you all have a happy weekend! 🙂

  3. I must say, I’m so glad you posted on June 7th, 8th and 9th!!!! I will read about the shoes soon! But I loved the nails, as usual! I keep on saying “I’ll try it”, and I will, I just don’t know when. It takes time with me, but one day I’ll do it! I love baby blue in general, and I loved the way your nails looked at first, but I also loved with the silver detailing!
Great manicure, colors and post! And there’s a blue pair of shoes waiting too, will go now to see it!

    • hehe I was going to post on the 7th and 9th only but I decided to do this post, so there are 3 posts in a row. Never happened before. 🙂
You know it’s really easy to do the shapes, especially the dots. You should try it. It usually takes a lot of time with me too, don’t worry, you’ll get used to it, and you’ll do it faster and faster.
The weather was hot yesterday but the sea still really cold. However I had my first swim in the sea! 🙂
      Filakia polla!!!
