Bare midriffs and Greek colors | outfit post

22 August, 2012

I wanted to wear the bare midriff trend for a long time, but since my body isn’t as fit as I would like it to be to wear a cropped top, I kept postponing it. Until, I came across an old top in my closet, that reminded me of how much I loved it in the past and decided to pair it with one of my summer white high-waisted skirts. That way, the bare part would be kept to a minimum, and I would still be able to wear one of the trends of this summer that I really like. On the plus side I could wear it with my blue D&G slingback pumps to save another pair of shoes.

BSB top, local shop skirt, Doca clutch, D&G slingback pumps, Donna Karan sunglasses, Esprit watch, Dyrberg/Kern cuff bracelet and local shop earrings.

All photos were taken by my talented friend N. aka Reine Nucléaire. Thank you so much! 😉

Unfortunately the sun was almost gone so the light in the photos is a bit harsh.

This is Shoe Save #23 for my Shoeper Shoe Challenge by Shoeperwoman.com.

Proud of my shoe saving this month! However, I have many more pairs to save, mostly flat sandals, which is the most difficult part for me.

So what do you think about this outfit?

As I wrote on my Facebook page on Monday, the courier brought me one more pair of shoes (which means that my Shoe collection just hit 60 pairs!). I already love it, and I’ll be sharing it with you on my next post! So as I always say: Stay tuned! 😉

  1. How come you say you are not fit? You are fabulous, and it shows in the pictures!!!!
One more talented photographer too, great! On the previous post I said your friend is a talented photographer, but I knew that is not her profession – it was just like saying “wow, she could be one if she wanted”. Now again this friend, she really made a great job! But with a model like you, it’s not difficult! You made the pictures beautiful, not the contrary!
I loved this outfit – white is very beautiful, the proportions are good too, and the shoes and clutch? Love that color!
You look really great and the pics are suuuper beautiful! (The hair too!)

    • When I say that I’m not fit, I mean that I don’t have abs or something like this. I don’t even exercise even though I should. It’s not that I’m fat, I’m just not as fit as I would like to be.
Don’t worry I know what you meant, but I just wanted to clarify it, just in case. She is indeed very talented, and it’s good to have friends to help me with my outfit photos from time to time. It’s a difficult tusk to do by yourself all the time.
Thank you sooo much for your sweet sweet comment! You’re making me blush again! Wish I could pose like a model, but I’m doing the same old “poses”. I always feel awkward in front of a camera. Especially when I know that I’m gonna show the photos on the blog.
The hairstyle was really easy to make. I made it two days in a row. It’s perfect for summer! Don’t know why I hadn’t tried it before! 🙂

  2. Hi M I love the combination! The shoes are so pretty, you should wear them more oftehn and it’s such a beautiful colour. Also really love your earrings! White and blue is very Greek! 🙂

    • Thank you very much Steph! I’d love to wear the shoes more often, but I bought them in a 38, which is my size, but they can be very narrow during summer! I should have gone for a 39 in these, instead. But I wear them, whenever I have the chance, when the temperatures drop a bit. Summer in Greece can make your feet swell so much that you can’t fit in some of your shoes.

  5. Love this outfit, especially the bag and the shoes, which are just WOW! I have a little crop top which I’ve been wearing a lot this summer, and always with high-waisted pieces, as you have here. I was a little bit wary about it at first, but I actually think they can be really flattering with a high-waisted skirt, when you just get a little flash of skin showing!

    • Thank you so much Amber! Seeing your comments on my blog, always make me smile!
It was my first try (after many years) with a crop top but I really liked it, and I agree with you that it can be really flattering with a high-waisted skirt. I may try something different next time! But without showing too much skin.

    • Thank you soooo much for all your amazing comments Ela! You put a smile on my face! 🙂
I do love dresses in summer, they are more comfortable and breathable in this unbelievable heat.
I never liked brown in the past, but now I use it in small doses, but trying to avoid it in winter. It kind of makes me sad in winter.
As for the hairstyle it’s really simple, I did it myself. Just twisted some hair on the sides, secured it with bobby pins, and then made a messy bun on top of them, but twisting around all the hair. I was going to show you a close up of the hairstyle but the photos weren’t good enough.
Thank you so much for eveything! 🙂
      Kisses!!!

    • Thank you very much! It’s actually a high waisted skirt, with a cropped top, paired in a way to follow the the bare midriff trend, as the title says.

  6. A very nice and fresh white outfit. I love the bare midriff trend, too…but after two kids, I must pass on it, lol! You look wonderful!
